APEC COMMITS TO BOOSTING CONNECTIVITY FOR BETTER ECONOMIC INTEGRATION by Fardah

    Jakarta, Oct 10, 2013 (Antara) - Members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), meeting at their 21st Summit in Bali, reiterated their commitment to strengthening and deepening regional economic integration and eliminating barriers to international trade and investment in the region.  
   APEC has identified regional connectivity, through air and water transportation, as well as electronically, as being crucial in reducing barriers, and set a target for achieving full connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region by the year 2030.

APEC ESTABLISHES NETWORK TO FIGHT CORRUPTION by Fardah

    Jakarta, Oct 9, 2013 (Antara) - Member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) consider corruption a threat to social and economic development.  
  Corruption practices lower public and investors' trust, damage healthy market competition, threaten consumers' safety, and increase the cost of doing business, delivering public services, and infrastructure projects.
        Therefore, to support sustainable and inclusive growth, the 21 member economies of APEC have expressed their commitment to eradicating corruption, bribery, money laundering, and illicit trade.

AS APEC CHAIR 2013, INDONESIA SETS THREE PRIORITIES by Fardah

     Jakarta, Jan 9, 2013 (ANTARA) - This year, Indonesia will be hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. This is the second time that Indonesia will be hosting the APEC Summit, after 1994. Indonesia is determined to promote a stronger and a resilient Asia Pacific region, as the locomotive for the world's economic growth.
        Indonesia's President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has announced this year's theme for the summit, "Resilient Asia Pacific, Engine of Global Growth".

INDONESIA TO FOCUS ON SUBSTANCES, LOGISTICS FOR APEC SUMMIT 2013 by Fardah

     Jakarta, Sept 11, 2012 (ANTARA) - The Russian government handed over the APEC (Asia and Pacific Economic Cooperation) chairmanship to Indonesia at the end of the APEC CEO Summit in Vladivostok, Russia, on September 8, which was attended by more than 700 CEOs of the Asia-Pacific Region`s largest companies.
      President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as the next chairman of the APEC forum summit, was present at the APEC summit in Russia.
