INDONESIA WARNS CITIZENS TO REFRAIN FROM VISITING LIBYA by Fardah

 Jakarta, Aug 12, 2014 (Antara) - The Indonesian government recently evacuated its citizens from Libya and warned others not to visit the strife-ravaged country where violence has been steadily escalating across several of its cities.

        The civil war in Libya has killed more than 220 people, wounded some one thousand, and forced many foreign nationals to flee Libya lately.

        In a statement released on August 7, 2014, the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry stated that a total of 122 Indonesians living in Libya had been evacuated since July 29 by land via Ras Jedir to Tunis, in coordination with the Indonesian embassies in Tripoli and Tunis.

         The evacuation had been carried out in three batches, with the first on July 29 involving 34 citizens, the second on August 1 involving 51 nationals, and the third on August 3 involving 37 citizens.

RI CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE IN LIBYA by Fardah

       Jakarta, April 12, 2011 (ANTARA) - In line with the African Union`s proposed-Road Map to end conflicts in Libya, Indonesia has also called for immediate cease-fire and dialogs between the Muammar Gaddafi camp and the rebels.
       The most recent call for cease-fire was voiced by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono together with Turkish President Abdullah Gul in their joint statement on Libya issued when Gul was visiting Jakarta on April 5, 2011.

COALITION AIR STRIKES ON LIBYA DRAW CONDEMNATION IN INDONESIA by Fardah

      Jakarta, March 24, 2011 (ANTARA) - The western coalition`s air strikes on Libya have been denounced as unacceptable by various parties in Indonesia because they had killed Libyan civilians on the pretext of protecting the Libyan opposition.
      The Western military attacks were in line with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1973 that approved a no-fly zone over Libya and authorized "all necessary measures" for protecting civilians there from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi`s forces.

INDONESIANS STRUGGLE TO GET OUT OF STRIFE-TORN LIBYA by Fardah

     Jakarta, Mar 1, 2011 (ANTARA) - Amid chaotic conditions and violence in Libya, a number of Indonesian nationals, like other foreigners of various nationalities, have struggled to get out of the strife-torn country.
     Some 253 Indonesians making up the first batch of evacuees coordinated by the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry, arrived at Carthage International Airport in Tunis, Tunisia, Saturday evening (Feb. 26) aboard a chartered Tunisair.
