INDONESIA TO BUILD ASIAN-AFRICAN VILLAGE IN WEST BANDUNG by Fardah

Jakarta, Feb 6, 2016 (Antara) -   West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan has disclosed that an Asian-African village will be constructed in West Bandung District, West Java Province.

     The project is being undertaken as mandated in the  recommendations of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) Commemorative Summit held in Jakarta and Bandung, in April 2015.

    The basic concept of the village, which would become a tourist attraction, was, in fact, formulated 11 years ago, the governor said.

    "We welcome the generosity of the Provincial Government of West Java in providing a venue in Bandung, Indonesia, for the establishment of an Asian African Village in celebration of the mutual bond of friendship between Africa and Asia," a joint ministerial statement on the new Asian-African strategic partnership plan of action said.

   The meeting was held in Bandung, in 2005,  in conjunction with the Commemoration of the Golden Jubilee of the Asian-African Conference of 1955.

     The concept of the Asian-African village will be similar to the Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park (TMII) in Jakarta, where visitors can see replicas of various traditional houses existing in every region in the country.

      The new village will become a "show room" for African and Asian countries to display replicas of their traditional houses and heritage.
      Deputy District Head of West Bandung Yayat T Soemitra said the village will be built in a tea plantation area of Mandalawangi Maswati (Walini), covering  350 hectares of land.

HISTORICAL BANDUNG CONFERENCE ARCHIVES PRESERVED BY UNESCO By Fardah

 Jakarta, Oct 29, 2015 (Antara) - The Asian-African Conference's (AAC)'s archives held in Bandung, West Java, in April 1955, have been preserved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

        The archives have been inscribed in the Memory of the World International Register, along with 46 other nominations.

        With the inclusion of the AAC archives in the Memory of the World register, the international community will now have access to the AAC documents that highlight world peace, independence, freedom, the welfare of human beings, and internationalism.  
    The conference was attended by 29 Asian and African countries, and was the first international assembly of Asian-African nations aimed at promoting world peace and cooperation, and freedom from colonialism and imperialism.

        Among the world leaders taking part in the Bandung Conference were U Nu of Burma (Myanmar), Jawaharlal Nehru of India, Mohammed Ali Jinnah of Pakistan, Sir John Kotelawala of Ceylon (Sri Lanka), the Grand Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Amin Al-Husaini of Palestine, and Sukarno of Indonesia was the host.

INDONESIA TO SHOWCASE MORAL SUPPORT FOR PALESTINE IN ASIA-AFRICA CONFERENCE by Fardah

    Jakarta, April 19, 2015 (Antara) - Indonesia, a staunch supporter of Palestine, will use the Asia-Africa Conference's 60th Commemoration, a major gathering of at least 32 leaders of Asian and African countries, to showcase its moral support for Palestinian people who are still under occupation.

         During the Asia-Africa Conference 2015 held in Jakarta and Bandung, April 19-24, 2015, Indonesia and other countries in the two continents will reiterate political solidarity and moral support for Palestine, according to Siti Nugraha Mauludiah, the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry's director for technical cooperation, recently.

         The solidarity and support are in accordance with the spirit of the Bandung Conference which is totally against any colonialism and occupation on Earth.

INDONESIA STARTS RECEIVING FOREIGN LEADERS' CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION IN AAC by Fardah

   Jakarta, March 31, 2015 (Antara) - In less than three weeks, Indonesia will host the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) and so far at least 25 heads of state and government have  confirmed their attendance, claimed Presidential Chief of Staff Luhut Panjaitan.

        The Government of Indonesia will organize the Asia-Africa Summit 2015 to mark the 60th commemoration of the AAC and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, on April 22-24.  
    The AAC was first organized in Bandung in April 1955, at the initiative of Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Ceylon (Sri Lanka), India, and Pakistan.

        It was viewed as a symbol of freedom from colonialism, besides being a symbol of the resurgence of Asian and African nations. Some 29 countries representing more than half of the world's population had sent their delegates to the conference.

ASIA-AFRICA CONFERENCE TO REAFFIRM SUPPORT FOR PALESTINE'S INDEPENDENCE by Fardah

  Jakarta, March 10, 2015 (Antara) -  The Asia-Africa Conference (ACC) was first organized in Bandung, West Java, on April 18-24, 1955, at the initiative of Indonesia, Myanmar (Burma), Ceylon (Sri Lanka), India, and Pakistan.

        It was seen as a symbol of freeing countries from colonialism, besides being a symbol of resurgence of Asian and African nations.  
   Some 29 countries representing more than half of the world's population had sent their delegates to the conference.

        The conference resulted in the "Dasasila" Bandung, or the 10-points Bandung Declaration, on the Promotion of World Peace and Cooperation.

INDONESIA TO COMMEMORATE ASIA-AFRICA CONFERENCE TO REVIVE BANDUNG DECLARATION by Fardah

 Jakarta, Jan 29, 2015 (Antara) - Some 109 world leaders and representatives of 25 international organizations will attend the 60th Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) and the 10th New Asian African Strategic Partnership (NAASP) in Jakarta and Bandung on April 19-24, 2015.

         "'Strengthening Cooperation' is the theme for this special commemoration," Foreign Affairs Minister Retno LP Marsudi told the press after attending a coordinating meeting on the upcoming event at the presidential palace on January 9.

         Indonesia will invite 109 heads of states and representatives of 25 international organizations, as well as the UN Secretary-General, to the commemoration events.
