ENCHANTMENT FESTIVAL TO REVEAL WONDERS OF RAJA AMPAT

Jakarta, 26/6 (Antara) - The Raja Ampat Enchantment Festival will showcase the wonders of Raja Ampat as a marine tourism destination to divers, marine lovers and adventurers from October 18 - 21, 2019.

Named the Worlds Best Snorkeling and Diving destination by CNN Travel, Raja Ampat, has prepared three locations for the international marine tourism event, notably Waisai, Sapokren Village and Mayalibit Bay.

The festival themed Exotic Raja Ampat, is being organized at different locations with the objective of boosting the local economy and empowering the indigenous people.

The locals will offer services such as homestay, speedboat riding, longboat tours, and other means of transportation to tourists during the festival to be organized by the Raja Ampat district administration, with the support of the West Papua Provincial Government and the Tourism Ministry, according to the head of the Raja Ampat Tourism Office, Yusdi Lamatenggo.

Raja Ampat is often called "Heaven on Earth", "Miracle of Papua", "Underwater Paradise on Earth", or "Real Wonder of the World" for its mesmerizing marine panorama.

The district has a geopark that is much more beautiful than the one in Halong Bay, Vietnam.

In 2012, the district was included in the list of Real Wonders of the World. It has been recognized as one of the world's 10 most beautiful diving sites, and rated number one for its rich marine flora and fauna diversity.

The district has around 1,700 islands, including the unoccupied and most beautiful Isle of Wayag, which is made of karst or limestone from other isles.

RAJA AMPAT EAGER TO BOOST TOURISM by Fardah

Jakarta, Jan 13, 2017 (Antara)- The Indonesian archipelago of Raja Ampat, fondly monikered the 'living Eden' or 'paradise on Earth', used to be a lesser-known tourist spot, familiar only to intrepid travelers and avid divers.

        A crown jewel for Indonesia, Raja Ampat has crystal clear turquoise waters and isles that are covered by thick green carpets of dense forests and mangrove swamps.

        Located in the Coral Triangle, the heart of the world's coral reef biodiversity, between the Pacific and Indian oceans in eastern Indonesia's West Papua province, the world is now taking notice of Raja Ampat after the Indonesian government intensified its tourism promotion here.

        However, reaching Raja Ampat can be time-consuming and expensive due to its relatively poor infrastructure and transport. 
   Tourists have to fly from Jakarta to Sorong, West Papua, which takes six hours with a stopover in Manado, North Sulawesi, or Makassar, South Sulawesi.

        Ferries are then available between Sorong and Waisai, the capital of the Raja Ampat district on the island of Waigeo. This journey takes another 1.5 to two hours. Speedboats are also given on rent at Sorong, but are expensive.

        In a bid to provide easy access to Raja Ampat, the government has now launched key infrastructure projects on the islands.

Jakarta, Sept 28, 2016 (Antara) - Raja Ampat is a crown jewel, thanks to its crystal clear turquoise sea waters and several isles covered by a thick green carpet of dense forests and mangrove swamps.

         The stunning natural beauty of Raja Ampat isles, located on the northwestern tip of the Indonesian province of West Papua, is often seen as a heaven on earth, where dreams of divers come true and nature lovers find a perfect place.

        Raja Ampat, which literally means "Four Kings," is located in the Coral Triangle, the heart of the world's coral reef biodiversity.

        The seas around Raja Ampat Isles are home to the richest varieties of species in the world, including 75 percent of all known coral species.

        The Raja Ampat archipelago encompasses 15 thousand square miles of land and sea. There are around 1.8 thousand isles in Raja Ampat District.

       The name Raja Ampat, or "Four Kings," is derived from a local myth. It has four major islands: Waigeo, Salawati, Batanta and Misool, which are home to ancient rock paintings.

         In total, the Raja Ampat district has around 1.7 thousand islands, including the unoccupied and most beautiful Isle of Wayag, which is made of karst or limestone from other isles.

       Its four major islands --- Waigeo, Batanta, Salawati and Misool --- shelter a vast array of terrestrial species and valuable forests.

          The region includes the Pacific's most important Leatherback Turtle nesting site, the Nature Conservancy writes on its website.

         Offshore reefs protect some 1,427 species of fish and more than 550 species of coral.    

STUNNING RAJA AMPAT TO BE PROPOSED AS TOURISTIC PROVINCE by Fardah

Jakarta, Jan 1, 2016 (Antara)- The stunning natural beauty of Raja Ampat isles located in the northwestern tip of the Indonesian province of West Papua, has started to attract domestic and foreign tourists.

       Lured by this beauty of Raja Ampat, President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana spent the last day of 2015 and the first day of 2016 there.

        They preferred to spend their time in the lap of nature, free from the cacophony of the city and pollution as they welcomed the new year.  
  On the New Year's Eve, Jokowi, as the president is popularly called, accompanied by Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Head of the Presidential Office Staff Teten Masduki and West Papua Governor Abraham Octavianus Atururi, was on the Waisai beach, Raja Ampat District.

       The next morning, Jokowi and Iriana visited Pianemu Bay in the same district to enjoy the amazing natural scenery that combines crystal-clear sea waters and hundreds of isles as well as hills covered by green vegetation and virgin forests.

MANADO-DAVAO-RAJA AMPAT CONNECTIVITY EXPECTED TO BOOST TOURISM AND BUSINESS by Fardah

  Jakarta, Sept 11, 2014 (Antara) - The Indonesian government has encouraged domestic airlines to serve on the flight route connecting the scenic locations of Davao in Mindanao, Philippines, and Indonesia's Manado in North Sulawesi and Raja Ampat District in West Papua.

        The flight route is expected to boost the tourism industry, particularly in North Sulawesi and West Papua, Transportation Minister E.E. Mangindaan recently stated.    

SAIL RAJA AMPAT OFFERS OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT "HEAVEN ON EARTH" by Fardah

      Jakarta, March 28, 2014 (Antara) - Indonesia will offer an opportunity for nature lovers to visit Raja Ampat, often called "Heaven on Earth", "Miracle of Papua", "Underwater Paradise on Earth", or "Real Wonder of the World" for its mesmerizing marine panorama.

        In June this year, the Indonesian government will organize Sail Raja Ampat as part of its annual international maritime event, to bring the sail's participants and guests to the country's most exotic location.  
   Since 2009, Indonesia has organized the annual Sail Indonesia event on five earlier occasions - Sail Bunaken 2009, Sail Banda 2010, Sail Wakatobi- Belitong 2011, Sail Morotai 2012, and Sail Komodo 2013.
