FIRST OVERSEAS TRIP DURING PANDEMIC TO TAKE WIDODO TO THREE NATIONS by Fardah


 

Jakarta, Oct 30, 2021 (Antara) A special Garuda Indonesia airplane, GIA-1, departed for Rome, Italy on October 29, 2021 with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his entourage on board, marking the start of his three-nation working visit.

Widodo's trip—which is his first since the pandemic began in 2019 and has come at a time when COVID-19 transmission has begun to slow in many countries, including Indonesia—will take him to Italy for the G20 Summit, Great Britain for COP26, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is an important business partner for Indonesia.

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung are accompanying the President on the trip.


G20

Currently, Widodo is in Rome for the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Meeting, scheduled for October 30-31, 2021. He will take over the grouping’s Presidency from Italy at the meeting. 

The G20 members are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union. Spain is a permanent guest.

Indonesia will hold the Presidency of the G20, which represents 85 percent of the global economy and 75 percent of the global trade, from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022. The theme for Indonesia's Presidency is “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”.

He has also been invited to deliver a speech on women’s engagement in micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) at the meeting.

CROWN PRINCE'S VISIT BOLSTERS PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN INDONESIA, UAE

Jakarta, 27/7 (Antara) - Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visiting Indonesia on July 24, 2019, was historic and memorable, as he was enthusiastically welcomed and held long, friendly discussions with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi described the two leaders as having established ties akin to best friends.

"They clicked. This is one of the longest meetings the president has had with a guest from another country," the minister remarked at the Bogor Presidential Palace following the bilateral meeting between the Crown Prince and the president that lasted over 2.5 hours.

Marsudi recalled Sheikh Mohamed's friendly welcome extended to President Jokowi when he had visited Abu Dhabi in 2015.

"When the president visited Abu Dhabi in 2015, Sheikh Mohamed welcomed him at the steps of his jet. They walked to the car together and Sheikh Mohamed himself drove the president to the restaurant. President Jokowi felt very respected," she remarked.

Sheikh Mohamed, who also serves as deputy commander-in-chief of the UAE Armed Forces, arrived in Jakarta with a large delegation comprising Lt General Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, and Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, among others.

The two leaders affirmed their commitment to intensifying collaboration between Indonesia and the UAE, capitalizing on the enormous opportunities for economic and development cooperation, as well as fostering friendship and mutual understanding between the people of both nations.

INDONESIA KEEN TO FOLLOW UP INVESTMENT, ECONOMIC AGREEMENT WITH MIDEAST COUNTRIES by Fardah

Jakarta, Sept 18 , 2015(Antara)- Following a five-day trip by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to three wealthy Arab countries - Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar - the government is keen to enact agreements signed with those nations.  
    Saudi Arabia is Indonesia's largest trading partner in the Middle East, while the UAE is the main destination for Indonesian exports in the Middle East, and Qatar is the largest investor among Middle Eastern countries in Indonesia, including for its portfolio investments.

         The visit from Sept. 11 to 15 was aimed not only at opening greater access for Indonesian commodities in Middle Eastern markets, but also at encouraging investors from the three countries to make direct investments in Indonesia, particularly in infrastructure, maritime and energy sectors.
         Jokowi has assigned Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Sudirman Said to follow up on the agreements in investment, economics and investment cooperation signed between Indonesia and the three Arab nations.

    Prof. Mohammed Arkoun, cendikiawan Muslim yang berasal dari Aljazair namun bermukim di Perancis, pernah mengatakan "Modern itu ada di dalam isi kepala, bukan yang tampak oleh mata saja." Ia berkata sambil menempelkan jari tangannya di pelipis sebelah kanan.
    Ketika pemerintah negara Persatuan Emirat Arab (PEA) mengundang ANTARA pada 21-25 Juni 2005, melalui kedubesnya di Jakarta, ucapan Pro.Arkoun itu terkenang kembali.

KOMITMEN EMIRAT UNTUK MEMBANTU KORBAN TSUNAMI JANGKA PANJANG



     Abu Dhabi, 23/5/2005(ANTARA) - Komitmen masyarakat dan Pemerintah Persatuan Emirat Arat (PEA) untuk membantu korban bencana alam tsunami di Aceh dan Nias adalah proyek bantuan berjangka panjang dan berkesinambungan, menurut Sana'a Darwish Al Kitby, sekretaris jenderal Bulan Sabit Merah PEA.
       "Kami sangat prihatin dengan kondisi korban tsunami, karena itu kami termasuk yang pertama datang menolong mereka di Aceh dan Nias dengan membawa obat-obatan. Dan hingga kini kami terus mengerahkan berbagai bantuan, khususnya bagi wanita dan anak-anak, " jelas Sana'a ketika menerima Pemimpin Umum LKBN ANTARA Mohamad Sobary di Abu Dhabi, Senin.

INDONESIA PERLU TONJOLKAN POTENSI EKONOMI



    Abu Dhabi, 22/5/2005 (ANTARA) -- Indonesia harus menonjolkan potensi ekonominya agar dilirik oleh para pengusaha Persatuan Emirat Arab (PEA), kata Dubes Indonesia untuk PEA Faisal Bafadal di Abu Dhabi, Minggu. 
     Ketika menerima Pemimpin Umum (PU) LKBN ANTARA Mohamad Sobary di KBRI Abu Dhabi, Dubes Faisal Bafadal mengharapkan peranan ANTARA untuk memperbanyak pemberitaan ekonomi dalam pertukaran berita dengan kantor berita PEA, WAM (Wakalat Anba'a al-Emarat).
